• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll have to follow on arrival, such as taking a COVID-19 test.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA employee will ask you to lower your mask temporarily to verify your identity.
• Rather than handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for scanning.
• To reduce handling during the screening process, place personal items such as your phone, coins and keys into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
• If you want to take food through the security checkpoint, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to handle your food container or carry-on bag for closer inspection.
